GIANA DE DIER

Panama

Giana De Dier, (Panama, Born 1980)  studied Visual Arts at the University of Panama. She has shown her work at the Salone degli Incanti and Gallerie delle Prigioni in Italy, the Art Gallery of the Association of IDB Employees in Washington, SMV Gallery in New York, Allegro Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama and the 58th Carnegie International of the Carnegie Museum of Art. Giana De Dier has been collaborating with Krystel Ann Art since 2021, she exhibited with the gallery in Lisbon, Paris, London, Mexico, Miami, and Madrid. In 2023, De Dier had a residence at the Delphina Foundation in London, and at the Museum del Canal in Panama. Her works is on view at the Museum del Canal until the end of the year.  The artist Giana De Dier (Panama, b.1980) presented by Krystel Art Gallery at Prizm Art fair, Miami 2023, offers mixed media collage artworks that show the process of self-care, identity awareness, and positionality. In the works presented by Giana de Dier, we witness still and silent compositions where the portraits boldly confront the viewer and challenge traditional depictions of Africa and the African mask. These works attempt to present decolonized notions of black portraiture, in particular of black women who immigrated to Panama during the construction of the Canal
